After last year's big year with hurricanes and watching all the devastation, having a mobile emergency kit packed and ready to go seems like a sensible thing. Although we don't get the brunt of hurricanes here - our biggest problem would be ice storms in the winter and tornadoes any time.
Things to have packed:
- First Aid Supplies
- bandages of all sizes & shapes
- scissors & tweezers
- antiseptic ointment & wipes
- tape & gauze
- aspirin/ibuprophen/acetominophen
- triangular cloth big enough for a sling
- Listing of all prescriptions for every member of family and why (also any medical conditions that each member has)
- At least one flashlight with extra batteries
- Radio with extra batteries (or a wind-up that does not require batteries)
- Bottled water for each member and also remember pets
- Blanket for each member
- Toilet paper, tissues, paper towels
- Hand cleaner, disposable gloves
- Nonperishable foods for family and pets
- Also remember collar and leash for each pet
- List of emergency phone numbers
