15 Things Every Little Bird Should Know How to Do

by Jan Allison
from Madison Baptist Church's Ladies' Array

Fifteen basic things every lady should know to be able to run her home to the best of her ability.

Emergency Home Kit | Use and Care Book | Inventory | Household Papers | Planning a Menu for the Week | Stocking a Pantry | Peanut Butter Cookies | Pastry for Pie Crust | Hard Boil an Egg | Pack a Suitcase | Set a Table | Make a Fruit Smoothie | Loading a Dishwasher | Making a Bed | Make Your Own First Aid Kit

Your bed is the center attraction in your bedroom. An unmade bed makes the entire room messy whether it is or not. So lets make that bed and make it inviting.

Start with linens that go with your decor. Fitted bottom sheets, flat top sheets, pillowcases in the size for the size of bed you have. Clean, crisp sheets are very inviting.

Put your fitted bottom sheet on and make the last corner a bottom corner - saves you from a fight with the night stand by your bed. If you are making bunk beds, put the far corners on first, then the front two corners.

Place your flat top sheet on next. If you intend to fold back the sheet to expose the pattern and color, you will need to bring the sheet all the way up to the top of the mattress. If not, you can leave 2-3 in. from the top of the mattress. Straighten and make sure that it does not hang off the sides and out from underneath the bedspread - this is very tacky. Make hospital corners at the foot of the mattress. Leave untucked for easier sleeping.

Finish with a bedspread, quilt, or comforter, and your pillows.
